Preserving cultural spaces for future generations.

Colliers is proud to be involved in the first comprehensive renovation of The Frick Collection since it opened in 1935. Our leadership is a key component in this project, encompassing critical infrastructure and systems upgrades.

Careful consideration was paid to the landmarked building and the residential neighborhood in regard to vibration sensitivity. This complicated expansion and renovation faces the challenge of a two-year deadline to avoid an intrusive NYC approval process, as well as the logistics of excavating 30 feet down to create new below grade spaces next to the museum and adjacent neighbors. This involves the dismantling and reconstruction of a limestone, historic structure to allow for excavation below, involving a strategy that is saving nine months of time and costs.

As project manager, Colliers is responsible for extensive planning and advisory services due to the delicate nature of the architecture, the landmarked historic building, and the artwork it holds. Services provided include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop project budget reflecting building program needs
  • Coordinate the design process with design team, users, operators and regulatory groups
  • Conduct technical review and critique of systems designs and details
  • Establish and manage the bidding and contracting process
  • Monitor and manage construction changes and project finances
  • Ensure systems performance through testing
  • Monitor and manage contractor correction of problems
