As the culmination of an intensive six-year planning process, New England Conservatory’s Board of Trustees approved the construction of the new Student Life and Performance Center (SLPC). The project represents NEC’s first new building since 1959 and houses a 250-bed residence hall, dining commons, library and music archive, gathering spaces, an opera studio/black box theatre, orchestra rehearsal room, and small ensemble room.

The project began pre-construction in Spring 2015 and was completed in September 2017, ready for the start of the academic school year.
