Connecting systems and securing resources in Phoenix, AZ.

The water infrastructure project centered on a 2,500 GPM raw water pump station supplying irrigation water from the Arizona Canal to three golf courses: Cave Creek, Lookout Mountain, and Moon Valley Country Club. The scope included the design of a six-mile raw water transmission main, marking a shift from potable to raw water for irrigation. This transition offers cost savings and supports Phoenix’s water conservation efforts. This initiative not only ensures efficient irrigation for the golf courses but also contributes to sustainable water management in Phoenix, demonstrating effective urban water resource allocation.

The project required extensive coordination with multiple agencies, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Flood Control District, Salt River Project, and various City of Phoenix departments. The pipeline was installed along a heavily trafficked collector street that presented challenges due to its high density of existing wet and dry utilities. Additionally, the route passed through the city’s Rose Mofford Park, demanding significant collaboration between the city and the contractor to ensure a safe working environment for both the crews and the public, all while maintaining uninterrupted park access.
