Improving educational spaces.
Colliers Project Leaders was engaged by the City of Easthampton to provide project management services during the construction of a new 110,000 gsf high school. In response to its submittal of a Statement of Interest, the Massachusetts School Building Authority invited the City of Easthampton to move forward with the feasibility study to identify possible solutions to the problems facing the Easthampton High School. These issues included:
- Lack of adequate classroom, laboratory, media, arts, guidance, office, library and storage spaces
- Leaks and cracks in various areas of the building
- Inadequate and inefficient HVAC facilities and controls
- Badly worn interior components including floors, stairs and gymnasium bleachers
- Inadequate electrical distribution capacity
- Limited handicap accessibility
As owner’s project manager, objectives included assisting the City of Easthampton in the selection of the most effective solution to the deficiencies identified in its Statement of Interest and identifying a course of action that offered the lowest life cycle costs of operating the School, as it relates to future operational budgets.
After the successful approval by the City of Easthampton voters, we provided project management services through the design, bidding, construction, and occupancy phases of the project. Once the new Easthampton High School was completed and occupied, we then oversaw the demolition of the old high school building and restoration of the school site.
