CHEO’s Integrated Treatment Centre

CHEO is a global leader in complex pediatric healthcare, education and research. Based in Ottawa, CHEO includes a hospital, children’s treatment centre, school and research institute, with community locations throughout Eastern Ontario.

Designed with families in mind, CHEO’s Integrated Treatment Centre will improve access to services and patient experience for families. CHEO wanted to create a facility that not only provides everything families need in a centralized location, but also connects these programs and services together, so that families receive integrated, seamless care.

The new CHEO Integrated Treatment Centre will include multi-use clinic space, a physiotherapy rehab gym, expanded mental health clinics, indoor and outdoor multi-use space, space for children and youth with complex emotional needs, modern treatment rooms for kids with behavioural needs, advanced technology to enable virtual care, a physical link to the hospital on campus, family support spaces, and a new parking structure.

One of the facility’s defining features will be the technological advancements to its motion and technology lab. The new lab will include highly specialized equipment to capture and assess the way patients’ bodies move in 3D – to enhance the clinical outcomes for kids with rehabilitation needs.

Integrated Treatment Centre is being delivered under a Design-Build-Finance (DBF) model and designed to a LEED Silver standard, with the goal of improving connected, integrated and accessible care through its purpose-built layout.

Trusted F&E advocates and strategic advisors

CHEO retained our furniture and equipment (F&E) advisors to support the planning, contract negotiations, procurement, installation and commissioning of all the furniture and equipment for the project.

Our team worked closely with CHEO to develop a detailed equipment list, including highly specialized equipment for the motion and technology lab. We also facilitated the development, negotiation and finalization of all F&E contract documents.

Projects of this magnitude can be complex and span over several years, making continuity an important aspect of project delivery. We are working closely with CHEO’s team to maintain continuity over the lifecycle of the project, and with supporting parties to maintain the organization’s original vision.
