Commissioning services for a state-of-the-art police department & town hall annex.

Colliers Project Leaders was engaged to provide commissioning services during the design and construction of a new 18,412 square foot police department and town hall annex in Chatham, Massachusetts. In addition to the primary function of housing the police department, the facility will also house the Town’s Emergency Operation Center (EOC). The EOC is a multi-purpose room used for police training or public usage during non-emergency periods. The lower level space was designated for prisoner processing, holding, evidence, locker rooms, storage and a sally port. A separate outbuilding is used for vehicle storage, vehicle processing, bulk evidence, and traffic control equipment storage.

The objectives for the project were to create a state-of-the-art facility that fulfills the Police Department’s needs for both the present day and for years to come; to provide flexibility in space use to accommodate growth and modification in the future; to minimize the maintenance impact on the town; to maximize the energy efficiency of the building through the use of efficient equipment, a high-quality envelope, proper control sequences, and occupancy management; and, to work toward the best practices for sustainability and environmental goals within the project budget.

Our focus during the commissioning process was to verify that the Town received a building that met its needs and that operates properly.
