The Bloomfield Public Schools retained Colliers Project Leaders to provide comprehensive commissioning services during the design, construction, and post-construction of the phased renovations and additions to the Bloomfield High School and the new Wintonbury Early Childhood Magnet School.
This 180,500 gsf renovation to the Bloomfield High School included upgrades to the sites vehicular and pedestrian traffic circulation, window replacements, a new HVAC system and controls, finishes, technology upgrades, and security controls. The new 48,000 gsf Wintonbury Early Childhood Magnet School student enrollment includes preschool for children, 3 and 4 years old and kindergartners with an estimated enrollment of 336 students. The new Wintonbury Early Childhood Magnet School received LEED Silver Certification.
As commissioning agent for these projects, we served as an objective advocate of the Bloomfield School Building Committee, overseeing and coordinating the commissioning process, and presenting final recommendations to the Committee regarding performance of the commissioned building systems.
During the overall design stage, we worked in conjunction with the project design teams through the design process and reviewed the design to verify that it met the Bloomfield School Building Committee’s objectives. During this phase we also developed detailed commissioning specifications. During construction, we coordinated the execution of a testing plan, which included observing and documenting systems’ installation and performance to verify that the systems were functioning in accordance with the owner’s project requirements and the contract documents.
