Healthcare Associated Infections Organization (HAIO), founded in 2013, is a collaborative non-profit with the mission of helping healthcare organizations respond to crisis conditions. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, HAIO has provided an active forum for healthcare professionals to discuss current conditions and needs. The below video of the latest virtual HAIO Roundtable Conversation showcases two thought-provoking sessions.
- Session 1: A conversation with Joseph Kvedar, MD related to telehealth and telemedicine and the impacts this has for healthcare planning. Dr. Kvedar is a Professor of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School, President of ATA, Co-chair of the AMA’s Digital Medicine Payment Advisory Group, and Editor-in-Chief of npj Digital Medicine, a Nature Research journal. He is the author of two books on digital health: The Internet of Healthy Things (2015) and The New Mobile Age: How Technology Will Extend the Healthspan and Optimize the Lifespan (2017). The cHealth Blog provides his insights and vision for digital health. Dr. Kvedar is an advisor to and serves on the board of several Venture Capital Firms and digital health companies.
- Session 2: A panel discussion on thoughts and preparations for a possible second surge of COVID-19 and what this means for concurrent COVID and non-COVID patient management in healthcare facilities. Moderated by Colliers Project Leaders’ Teresa Wilson, AIA, LEED AP, ACHA the panel provides insights from healthcare executives, emergency preparedness, facilities, architects, and engineering leaders on preparations for management of patients and retaining volumes in a potential second surge. The panelists include:
